I'm not too techy, but I heard I could buy/rent speakers and a "deck" to hook up to my ipod. I'm trying to save money here and there, but I don't want the sound quality to be cheap. Does anybody have any suggestions how to do this?

Honestly, as a DJ, I would recommend you find a starving college kid who’s an aspiring dj to do your wedding. Without someone controlling the music, is like a school bus without a driver. If you simply can’t afford a professional dj, put a post on craigslist to find a college kid who is trying to build up his resume. Here’s a video of an ipod wedding disaster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXj4P3iz2yg
However, if you are simply going cheap on the dj because you spent all your money on flowers, food, and decorations…your priorities are all wrong.
What if Usher starts playing during dinner? Or once people get up dancing, on comes kenny g? This is a very important day for you, and the entertainment at your wedding is the gift you give your family and friends for supporting you. Best of luck to you!
Unless your wedding is 50 people or less this is highly not recommended.
But if you insist you can find a local music store in your are that will provide a PA rental. If you explain what your goal is to the person renting the equipment they will provide you with an adequate system and all wires needed to complete the event.
