How do I fix a turntable with a broken motor?

I recently bought a used Sanyo TP1010 that seems to have a broken motor. (I bought it only because I want to listen to records, not to DJ or anything like that.) When I lift the platter up and move the arm to where the record should be the gears don't turn. Is it worth the money to try to fix this or should I just buy a new, cheap turntable/record player?

Record players normally have a motor that drives a rubber belt to the turntable (To keep the hum of the motor away from the record and pickup) Mostly these belts break. The motors are a lot more reliable, but if the motor is defenitely not running, first check that the wires to the motor recieve power. Check with a volt meter.
