It's similar to a buying a new car. While a new car will normally have an owner's manual for it's various features and info, the manual however will not teach you how to drive a car. This said, aside from purchasing a CD deck you will need another product to teach you how to become a DJ. Let's start with the hardware. For beginners and the budget minded, I suggest getting a combo setup like a Numark CDMIX2, Stanton CM203, Gemini CDM-500, or Marathon DCM-2000. These units will have all the basic necessities covered like two (dual) CD players and a built in DJ mixer. Just plug in two amplified (active or self powered) speakers, headphones and you are good to go. The top brands for DJ equipment are Pioneer, Denon, Rane, Allen & Heath, Ecler, Vestax, Tascam etc. As for learning how to be a DJ, there many instructional videos, books and even Youtube clips available on the subject. I hope this helps…
If you are serious about dj'ing the only ones you will consider are Technics 1210's (now made by panasonic!). No serious dj uses anything else and they are standard equipment for all gigging dj's.
They're not cheap tho! £350 each!
